Steelers fans criticized Pouncey for promoting a rap song moments after the Steelers’ season came to an end.
Pouncey responded to several of the fans with some comments that aren’t suitable for publication.
He told one fan, “Season is over, time to move on and get better! What do you do for a living besides bother me?”
Pouncey told another fan, “Dude, you have six followers! No one cares what you have to say!! Can you see that!”
He also said, “Why would I be mad? I’m rich..play for the Steelers and have an awesome life!! Are you mad loser?”
Pouncey’s last tweet of the night said, “I’m done talking to losers!”
As of Monday morning, Pouncey apologized but did not delete the previous posts from his account.
“I like to take the time to apologize for my action. It’s just hard to end like that and I couldn’t even help my team fight,” Pouncey tweeted.
In May, Steelers running back Rashard Mendenhall made some controversial comments about the death of Osama Bin Laden on Twitter. He lost several endorsement deals because of it.
Coach Mike Tomlin said the Mendenhall matter was handled internally and no other information was released.
The Steelers have not commented on Pouncey’s actions.
