PITTSBURGH —
Rooney's public comments Thursday were his first since Roethlisberger was accused of assaulting a 20-year-old college student in a nightclub on March 5 in Milledgeville, Ga.
Police are still investigating and Roethlisberger's attorneys deny he did anything criminal.
Rooney said if the team "were at a different point in the year, we may have to be thinking and doing something different. But at the moment, I think we're in a situation we're going to let this investigation play out and then go from there."
Roethlisberger has skipped voluntary workouts with the team this week.
