Steelworkers Trying To Save Washington County Mill

 

ALLENPORT, Pa. —

Steelworkers are meeting with Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel to try to save a Washington County mill.

The company plans to close its operations in Allenport.

The United Steelworkers union is hoping a Russian company can buy out Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel and save the mill.

The Allenport, Pa. plant employs 240 people.

It's one of the last remaining steel mills in the Mon Valley.
