Stolen Fetal Remains Cause Lawsuits

Magee-Womens Hospital Faces Potential Charges

Six families have filed lawsuits against Magee-Women’s Hospital in connection with fetal remains found last year in a funeral director's garage.

Robert Winston of McKeesport is awaiting trial on charges of theft by deception and abuse of corpses.

He allegedly stored the bodies of 19 full-term babies and more than 300 fetuses in his garage. Police say Winston had a contract with the hospital to have the infants cremated.

He is accused of keeping the money and storing the babies.

The hospital has no comment at this time.
