Surveillance Video Captures Unity Township Farm Burglar

GREENSBURG, Pa. —

Police said a farm owner in Unity Township installed surveillance video cameras after the farm was burglarized several times.

State police said the camera’s caught a thief on camera and they’re now looking for the man who stole tools and other items from the farm.

The farm owner, Ralph Frye, said he put the cameras up after his farm was robbed multiple times recently.

“You are trespassing. It'll say that. Warning, you are being videotaped by a security camera,” said Frye. "It takes a lot of guts, or I don't know what it takes. But just to show up and walk around like they own the place and take what they want."

Police said the video shows a man in a cut-off T-shirt and ball cap walking away from the Phillips Road farm carrying various tools. Investigators said it happened in broad daylight last Saturday while Frye was home. They said Frye was out in the field milking his cows when the crime occurred.

"It's just so disturbing. It’s the third time and it's hard to recoup on the tools," said Frye. “Every day we operate, we operate at a loss. Not just me, but every dairy farmer right now. Things are really tight. Maybe somebody else can afford to be robbed, but we can't."

Frye said a total of $400 worth of items were stolen.

If you have any information on this case, you're asked to call Greensburg State Police Department.
