Suspect In Ligonier Slaying Returns To Pennsylvania

WESTMORELAND COUNTY, Pa. —

A man accused of killing an elderly Ligonier man was headed back to Pennsylvania on Monday night.

Investigators say 19-year-old Anthony Mowry, of Latrobe, beat 75-year-old Mike Jones with clock chimes, a candlestick and his fists before slashing the victim's throat last week.

Police said Mowry set Jones' apartment on fire to cover up the crime and drove off in the victim's car.

Mowry was arrested last Friday in Fort Hood, Texas.

He was to be arraigned at the Westmoreland County prison on first and second-degree murder charges.
