PITTSBURGH —
When Channell 11 did a search for healthcare jobs we found some unlikey places.
A Look At Hottest Jobs In Pittsburgh
We found the Army National Guard is looking for a Healthcare Specialist and PNC Bank has an opening for Manager, Healthcare Clearinghouse.
Kindred Healthcare develops nursing care plans and just posted more than 100 jobs. Including a director of quality services on the North Side and a sales and marketing position in Oakdale.
Laura Fisher, Senior Vice President of the Allegheny Conference said, “Personal care, elder care there are a lot of jobs there throughout the region."
Fisher said the area is starting to see a boom in energy jobs with Westinghouse looking for hundreds of people and they aren't just engineers. Data coordinators and administrative aides are among the many openings.
Careerlink is a state run agency matching businesses with workers and they're seeing jobs in an unexpected area.
Pat Booker of CareerLink said, “We might think that finance and insurance might not be the place to be, but in the last few weeks I’ve had several insurance companies come in looking for agents.”
And don't count out manufacturing and technology
Fisher said, “Manufacturing remains a traditional strength. I think for all those who felt like we don't do that anymore and manufacturing has died there is still many, many jobs in that area as well.”
We found a mechanical assembly opening at Aerotech, a motion control manufacturer in Pittsburgh.
Dynavox, a smaller company on the Southside with operations in the UK and Canada, makes special technology for people with speech and learning disabilities. It is also looking for workers in Pittsburgh.
Leah Toth, Senior Recruiter for DynaVox said, “We have 9 open positions in the Pittsburgh office. We have a technical support role, we have a couple funding consultant positions and we have a software engineer position in R&D and a marketing segment manager position, that's some of them.”
Fisher also said weatherization is about to demand many jobs and sustainable Pittsburgh.com is gathering the information on that, but the jobs count on stimulus money and could be a few months away.
Fisher said, “We estimate in about six months there is going to be quite a lot of activity there.
