Thief Breaks Into Woman’s Home While She Prepares For Daughter’s Funeral

GREENE COUNTY, Pa. —

A thief breaks into a Greene County woman’s home while she was away, preparing for her daughter’s funeral.

Susan Machesky’s 23-year-old daughter was killed after a car accident in Maryland a month ago. Machesky was preparing for her funeral when she discovered someone had broken into her home in Carmichaels.

The thief stole Machesky’s jewelry including items that were given to her by her dead daughter.

“I don’t know what to think of a person who would rob somebody who was just making funeral arrangements for her daughter,” Machesky said.

She said police are investigating and have recovered some fingerprints and footprints from her home.

Machesky hopes that the thief will return the items that were taken. “All these things are very precious,” she said. “That’s all I have left of my daughter.”
