PITTSBURGH —
Temporary stop signs will be installed to control traffic flow.
About 17,000 vehicles use this section of Route 837 on an average day. Alternate routes should be considered. Traffic will remain in this pattern around-the-clock until further notice.
Recent flooding beneath the roadway has caused the road surface to heave.
PennDOT Allegheny County Maintenance crews will begin repairs Thursday night to address the problem.
A timeline to reopen the roadway is not available at this time; however, PennDOT said crews will work expeditiously to complete the repairs and fully reopen Route 837 as soon as possible.
Drivers are advised to use caution and expect stop conditions and delays.
