Snow Tire Rules In Effect For Pa. Drivers

By Trisha Pittman

PITTSBURGH —

When it comes to winter driving many people have questions about what is and is not allowed on the roadways.

It may be a "tired" old question, but here are the rules in case you forgot. According to Penn DOT, chains on tires are no longer allowed in the state of Pennsylvania. That also applies to anyone coming from states which do allow chains.

However, you can use studded snow tires on all roads in the commonwealth.

There are date restrictions on the use that you need to be aware of. Studded snow tires are permissible from November 1 until April 15.
