PITTSBURGH —
Nyia Page was just months from her second birthday when she was found dead of hypothermia in an abandoned playground in Rankin in February 2007.
Her father, William Page, could get the death penalty if convicted.
Police said Page told them he got frustrated when Nyia came downstairs in the middle of the night without a diaper and allegedly kicked her and left her out in the cold.
This weekend, neighbors and family members created a memorial garden at the spot where Nyia's body was found. Volunteers braved the rainy weather to clear out overgrown bushes and plant flowers in Nyia's memory.
Nyia's mother and grandmother told Channel 11 they are grateful to have something that turns a negative into a positive.
