The accident happened Saturday evening on Boden Street in White Township.
White Township police said the girls were on the same bicycle when they lost control, hit a tree and fell 30 feet down an embankment.
Geneva College student Daniel Pilling was riding his bicycle in the same area shortly after the crash.
Police said Pilling heard movement in the woods and called 911.
Without Pilling making the discovery, police say it would have been difficult to find the girls after dark.
Both girls were flown to Children's Hospital in Pittsburgh. There is no word on their conditions.
