Vandals Spray-Paint Renovated South Park Bridge

Police Believe Suspects Have Struck Before

SOUTH PARK TWP., Pa —

Police in South Park Township, Allegheny County are searching for the vandals who spray painted a newly renovated bridge.

The vandalism on the Brownsville Road Extension Bridge was discovered Saturday morning, and police believe area teenagers are to blame.

The bridge, which had been closed for five months, was set to reopen Tuesday. That opening has been delayed until Wednesday due to last-minute work.

Officers think the teenagers who damaged the bridge are also responsible for vandalism done at a nearby community sports complex.

A playground at Evans Field was spray-painted and burned several months ago.

The township still has $23,000 in new playground equipment waiting to be installed, but officials said it won't be done until the vandals are caught.
