Victim's Family Offers $10K Reward In Unsolved Lower Burrell Homicide

LOWER BURRELL, Pa. —

Two years ago, fishermen found the body of Kelly Nicole Smith in Chartiers Creek off the Allegheny River. She died of asphyxiation. The cause of her death was ruled homicide, but no one has been charged with her murder.

Another year has passed, but Patrick Godrey seems like it’s only been a day since he buried his sister. “I had to explain to a five year old and a three year old that aunt Kelly had died. They just had a lot of questions and they still do," he said.

"She loved her little boy so much, and they were attached at the hip. He misses her so much," said Kelly’s son, Mason.

The family strongly believes Kelly didn't just walk away from her home in Brackenridge; they know somebody knows something, and they're hoping that person will step forward.

Kelly Smith’s family is offering a $10,000 reward to anyone with information that would lead to an arrest.
