West Penn Allegheny Health System To Cut Dozens Of Jobs

PITTSBURGH —

The West Penn Allegheny Health System said Thursday it plans to eliminate the equivalent of 185 full-time positions.

Spokesman Dan Laurent told Channel 11 News that the majority of the cuts will come from unfilled vacancies, but there will be a number of reductions in its offices and hospitals.

West Penn employs about 13,000 people.

The company reported Wednesday it had lost $27 million in the first three quarters of the 2008-09 fiscal year.
