Wheeling Island Casino To Reopen Completely

Casino Had Closed Bottom Floor, Moved Machines Out Due To Flood Threat

WHEELING, WVa. —

Management at Wheeling Island Hotel-Casino-Racetrack say the casino will remain open.

The Casino had taken precautions this morning based on the National Weather Service's predictions about the Ohio River crest stage.

Wheeling Island General Manager Bob Marshall said, "We took some precautions early this morning and moved some of our slot machines and our poker room equipment out of the flood plain. However, with the new river predictions downgraded to 37.9 feet, we believe flooding is not a threat at this time,"

Wheeling Island's opening includes slot machines, 43 table games including blackjack, craps, roulette, and three restaurants.

Marshall says the hotel, simulcast wagering and poker room are expected to open on Thursday at 10:00 a.m.
