Witness: Man Swallowed Pills After Crashing Car Into Home

PITTSBURGH —

A Wilkins Township man narrowly escaped getting hit by a car that crashed into his newly-remodeled porch Saturday night.

The crash happened at about 10:40 p.m. in the 900 block of Greensburg Pike, dispatch workers said.

Neighbors said the homeowner was on the front porch but went inside to say goodnight to his son just a few seconds before the crash happened.

The car had a Florida license plate, authorities said.

Witnesses told police they saw the driver try to swallow pills before officers arrived.

Police took the 34-year-old driver into custody, but his name was not released.
