Director of Coverage and Content

Manage daily operation of the assignment desk. Develop and implement strategies for effective, efficient and smooth operation of the assignment desk. Build the morning agenda for news coverage and amend and rearrange throughout the day as developments dictate. Present daily agenda at morning and afternoon editorial meetings. Gather meaningful news information from available sources for newscasts.

Work closely with other news managers, news and web producers in executing daily and future story coverage. Supervise assignment editors to ensure strategic coverage goals and objectives are met. Ensure follow-up stories and assignments are pursued.

College/University degree in broadcast journalism or other related field.

A minimum of three year’s experience on a TV news assignment desk is preferred. Qualified candidate must have a working knowledge of newsroom computers, the Internet and computer-assisted reporting.

Executive Producer

Job Description: WPXI -TV Channel 11 News is looking for an experienced, energetic and proven Executive Producer to lead one of the highest rated morning newscasts in the country! The ideal candidate has excellent news judgment, good leadership and people skills, a strong sense of TV visuals and can drive relentless execution of our news brand. This person must work closely with the News Director, other Executive Producers, and must also have an eye for maximizing unique web content.

Responsibilities: This person oversees editorial control for two and a half hours of morning news. Manages early morning staff, including producer, anchors, reporters, photographers, editors, director and assignment desk

Qualifications: This position requires a minimum of two years news management experience and 5 years news line producing experience. Bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism or related field preferred

Digital Account Executive

The objective of the digital sales team is to work collaboratively with the other sales team members of the organization. The digital sales team is expected to provide subject matter expertise for both the application and execution of the sales plan designed to acquire, retain and grow current or potential clients. The digital sales team will also be responsible for the revenue and performance by product against stated goals.

Job Description: The Digital Account Executive will be the subject matter expert representing specific WPXI Digital products. The AE is directly responsible for growing and increasing revenues from high potential prospects and existing accounts. In addition, the Account Executive is responsible for assisting in the training of other sales team members within the sales organization and developing specific products. The candidate should possess good communication skills (oral and written) as well as the ability to exceed specific activity metrics and revenue goals. Primary method of customer contact will be on site sales calls combined with phone and e-mail contact.

Responsibilities: • Product expert will work with the primary client contact to develop, present, close and execute client solutions across the WPXI Pittsburgh digital portfolio. • Manage and grow their own digital business from digital product portfolio. • Work with other sales team members within the organization to identify and qualify customers and prospects having significant revenue generation potential for WPXI Pittsburgh. • Communicate specific product specifications and processes to clients to ensure quality and timely execution of purchased products. • Assess customers/prospect’s needs and recommend most suitable application of products to satisfy stated needs. • Evaluate WPXI’s digital product offering against customer's needs, budget and competitors' offerings. • Consistently meet or exceed management defined activity, revenue, product and objective goals. • Meet management and/or process defined deadlines. • Other duties as assigned by members of management.

Skills/Qualifications: • Media sales experience preferred • Demonstrated record of success in a goal oriented, highly accountable environment. • Demonstrated record of success cold calling for new business. • Superior sales and phone skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills. • Ability to work effectively as part of a team. • Demonstrable computer knowledge required.

Digital Ad Ops Specialist

The Digital Ad Ops Specialist will work with media sales executives and clients to implement innovative marketing solutions by leveraging all station capabilities and to further new business revenue

Job Description: Focus primarily on implementing and managing display advertising on WPXI.com and Mobile WPXI.com for both WPXI AE’s. Will assist AE’s with sales process by checking inventory, completing spec sheets, compiling RFPs; support campaign launches by processing orders and trafficking of all web ads. Will also work with AE’s to maximize campaign performance and provide ongoing and end of campaign summary metrics and proof of performance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: • Work with AE’s to leverage station capabilities to new and existing business clients to increase revenue across all verticals • Work closely with internal departments including; sales, promotions, production, research, programming, public affairs, and web/digital media to in fulfillment of the sales process and increase new business revenue for the station • Create innovative sales presentation content that positions WPXI as the preferred media solution for advertisers • Responsible for building, executing, and monitoring successful digital media advertising campaigns

Qualification Requirements: • Must be highly proficient in Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook • Excellent written and oral communication skills • Analytical in nature with a firm grasp of numbers and attention to detail • Strong time management and organization skills • Ability to work independently with little supervision • Can easily identify priority items and get them done in a fast-paced deadline driven environment • Must possess positive customer service attitude with both internal and external contacts; flexible, patient, courteous and professional • Must have good working knowledge of broadcast television industry, internet and mobile media platforms, terminology, and analytics.

Education and/or Experience: Bachelor’s degree (B.A) from four-year college or university in marketing, advertising, sales and/or broadcasting; and 2-3 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Other Skills and Abilities: Must have good working knowledge of broadcast television industry, internet and mobile media platforms, terminology, and analytics.

Three to five years of media experience required. PCNC/METV Sales Manager

Cox Media Group, in America’s most livable city of Pittsburgh, has an immediate opening for a Sales Manager to lead the sales efforts of Pittsburgh Cable News Channel (PCNC) and Memorable Entertainment Television (METV). The Sales Manager will be responsible for training the sales team, developing new business on television, internet and mobile, managing inventory and accurately forecasting business on both properties.

The ideal candidate must be skilled in hiring successful account executives, training, creating new business opportunities and having a proven track record generating online revenue. Client contacts at the local level and previous management experience are preferred.

Candidate must be fluent in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, OSI and CMR reports. Fundamental understanding of how to use marketing research is preferred. Outstanding oral and written communications skills are a must. Significant client entertainment is an integral part of this position. College degree is preferred.
