QUAKERTOWN, Pa. —
David Walker, 19 , died Saturday night while working a Zambelli Fireworks event in Bucks County near Philadelphia.
Walker was full-time at Zambelli Fireworks. He’d been working for the company six weeks.
Walker was part of a three man crew when a single shell malfunctioned, causing an on-ground explosion in a bunker. Debris hit him in his neck, and he later died.
The coroner has ruled Walker’s death an accident.
“We are offering counseling to our 50 employees and my condolences to the family,” said Doug Taylor, Zambelli president and CEO.
Taylor also said the Fourth of July is suppose to be a joyful time, but this has upset everyone.
For the family it’s so tough, Walker just became a father three weeks ago. The family said everything was coming together for him, with a new job and child.
Zambelli Fireworks said its staffed is trained and safety is its No. 1 priority.
Zambelli has not canceled any upcoming shows.
