No clowning around at Uniontown Halloween parade, officials say

UNIONTOWN, Pa. — Organizers of Uniontown’s Halloween parade, scheduled for Wednesday evening, are telling the public not to wear clown costumes or masks.

Officials from the Fayette Chamber of Commerce told the Herald-Standard that the decision is a reaction to current concerns over clown sightings in several states, including Pennsylvania.

Also banned in the parade are: chain saws (with or without chains), intense gore in costume or makeup, live animals (other than police/rescue dogs and horses) and weapons of any kind (real or replica).

The parade is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. The rain date is Thursday.
