Pedestrian struck, killed on State Route 18 in Lawrence County

NESHANNOCK TOWNSHIP, Pa. — A driver who struck and killed a pedestrian late Friday in Lawrence County thought he had hit a deer, police said.

Bruce G. Willis Jr., 35, of Neshannock Township, was killed in the crash on State Route 18 near Chapin Road.

The driver told police that he was heading south just before midnight when his windshield shattered. After turning around, the driver found Willis lying on the roadway. The driver then had a passing motorist call 911.

Southbound SR 18 was shut down for approximately three hours while emergency crews were at the scene. Neshannock Township police said the crash remains under investigation.
