Pittsburg, California changes name to Teal Town

PITTSBURG, Calif. — With the Pittsburgh Penguins taking on the San Jose Sharks in the Stanley Cup Final, one California city is temporarily changing its name to keep hometown fans happy.

Pittsburg, California is now known as Teal Town.

"We basically renamed our town Teal Town," Assistant City Manager Garrett Evans said. "We didn't like being associated with the Penguins."

A new banner at city hall makes it known that Penguins are not welcome there.

City staff  members even have new shirts and new letterhead, at least until the series is over.

Officials said the name change isn't costing taxpayers because the items were donated.
