Memo: Pittsburgh police on alert after dealers threaten to ‘open up on them'

An internal memo sent to Pittsburgh police officers Monday said drug dealers in the area have issued serious threats.
Channel 11 News has learned that the threats are targeted toward officers who patrol an area in Homewood known as “The Hole.” Police sources told WPXI-TV Pittsburgh that the 7500 block of Hamilton Avenue is a hot bed for drug activity.
The memo stated that confidential informants obtained knowledge that added foot patrols in the area are “disrupting drug sales.”
The informants said a well-known drug dealer vowed to shoot officers saying, “The next time those new guys mess up our business, we are going to open up on them.”
Pittsburgh police said they’re taking the threat seriously.
Public safety spokeswoman Sonya Toler confirmed that the memo Channel 11 News obtained is authentic, but did not have an official comment.
