Mother accused of using son's feces to make him ill

LAWRENCEVILLE, Pa. — A local mother is facing charges after investigators said she used her child’s feces to make him ill.

Lauren Buzard was arrested after surveillance cameras caught her rubbing her baby’s feces on his face at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, police said.

According to investigators, surveillance cameras were placed in Buzard’s son’s room after the child was brought to the hospital several times.

Doctors said the cameras caught Buzard fishing dirty linen out of the hamper, smearing the pad on the diaper and smearing something on the child's nasal feeding tube.

According to investigators, Buzard also allegedly smeared waste on her boy’s face and said he had vomited.

Doctors at Children’s Hospital concluded that Buzard has been actively harming her child in order to gain the benefit of exhaustive medical evaluation and attention.

Buzard is currently in county jail and is set to go before a judge on August 21.
