Police hope new surveillance video will identify driver involved in North Side hit-and-run

Pittsburgh police are hoping new surveillance video will track down the driver involved in a hit-and-run crash.

Police said a 39-year-old man was crossing East Ohio Street with his dog around 8 p.m. on Nov 3. As he crossed the road at the intersection with Cedar Avenue, he and his pet were struck by a silver vehicle. Police said the vehicle involved was making a left hand turn onto East Ohio Street from Cedar Avenue.

The man suffered minor injuries. He was treated and released from the hospital. His dog suffered a broken jaw and broken teeth.

A man who lives near Cedar Avenue in East Allegheny said cars are always speeding through the area.

"They don't slow down," Steve Stiveson said. "You have to be careful when you cross. They go too fast,"

Stiveson said he also believes he knows the victim.

"He is always out here walking his dog during the day, and he's a real nice guy," Stiveson said.

Anyone who recognizes the vehicle or has any information about the hit-and-run is asked to call Pittsburgh police at 412-323-7201.
