Police investigating roofer scheme in Hempfield Township

HEMPFIELD TOWNSHIP, Pa. — Police are investigating a roofer scheme in Hempfield Township.

Police said two men preyed on two sisters, ages 87 and 93, Wednesday afternoon.

"What we're really concerned about is that nobody falls victim to these individuals," said Trooper Steve Limani.

The men said they detected a leak and had to perform a dye test, and the women reluctantly let the men into their home.

One of the men stole $3,000 from a small safe, police said.

Police said the men had dark tans and dark hair.  One man looked to be in his 20s, and the other man looked to be in his 50s.  They were driving in a light green pickup truck.

Police said both use English as a second language.
