Police looking for connection between 2 home invasions; 2 intruders still on run

A man was hospitalized early Monday after a scuffle with armed intruders inside his Point Breeze home.
When the man answered a knock at the door on Penfield Place in Point Breeze shortly before 3 a.m., he was pistol-whipped and suffered a broken ankle during a scuffle with three intruders, who demanded money.
"I woke up with a gun to my head," the man's wife, Alisha Wakefield, told Channel 11's Steven Fisher. "They're talking about 'Where's the money? Where's the money?' Money is in the bank, I don't keep money in the house."
Police arrived quickly and arrested one of the intruders in the living room of the home as Wakefield's husband went for help.
"He managed to hobble to the gas station, where the attendant was nice enough to call," Wakefield said.
The two other intruders others ran into a back alley and were not seen again.
"They beatin' these people up, doing all these crazy things for nothing, for little bits of money. No one has money in their house anymore," Wakefield said. "You want things? Go get a job."
Investigators said the suspect who was arrested was found with several items, including jewelry, from an earlier home invasion on Chalfont Street in Wilkinsburg.
Police believe the other two intruders who were involved in the Point Breeze incident were also involved in the Wilkinsburg home invasion.
The victim, who did not want to be identified, said it was just after midnight when three masked men attacked him outside his Wilkinsburg home.
He said the men ordered him inside at gunpoint and demanded money. When he said he had no money, he told Channel 11’s Shelley Bortz that’s when they pistol-whipped him in the head.
"They took all my kids Christmas stuff, hover board, scooter, remote control car," the victim said.
A black Chrysler was also among the items that were taken.
Police are still looking for the other two intruders.
