Police search for West Mifflin gunmen believed to be armed, dangerous

WEST MIFFLIN, Pa. — Police are searching for two men in connection with a shooting last week at a West Mifflin home.

Investigators said on Friday that they believe the two gunmen were hired hit-men who were targeting a guest at the home.

Officials are searching for Christopher Cunningham and Shawn O'Leary in connection with the shooting. Both are from West Mifflin and are considered armed and dangerous, West MIfflin police said Saturday.

Police were called to Glencarin Street around 1 a.m. Oct. 14 after the home was struck by nearly two dozen bullets.

"I heard pop, pop, pop and I jumped up," homeowner Eric Chedwick said.

Police believe the two gunmen were hit-men hired by Cunningham, who police said drove the two men to Chedwick’s house.

According to police paperwork, a witness told them, “Cunningham stayed in the vehicle and the two men walked up to the front door... A few seconds later, he heard and saw flashes from the guns.”

Channel 11 learned that the alleged hit may have been over a drug deal.

Authorities said, "Cunningham gave the victim $1,000 to purchase ‘molly.' ...The victim left with the money and did not return with the drugs.”

The victim was staying at Chedwick’s house and was almost struck by the bullets. Four others, including a baby, were also inside the home.

Chedwick and his family have since moved out of the home, fearing the gunmen would return.

Anyone with information about the whereabouts of Cunningham and O'Leary is asked to call 911, or the West Mifflin Police Department at 412-461-0600.
