Police search for 2 suspects in deadly Fayette County shooting

UNIONTOWN, Pa. — State police have released pictures of two suspects wanted in connection with a deadly shooting last month in Fayette County.

Christian Carpenter, of Michigan, and Vincent Jones, of West Virginia, are suspected of killing Trenton Grooms, 27, on May 24 in Searights Village.

According to police, Carpenter and Jones were visiting several people, including children, at a home on Laurel Hill Road when Grooms arrived.

One of the witnesses told police that Grooms broke a window and crawled inside, where he was confronted by Carpenter and Jones. Neighbors told Channel 11 News that they believe Grooms may have gone to the home to visit an ex-girlfriend.

Police said Jones fired four shots, hitting Grooms in the leg, and as Grooms tried to leave, Jones and Carpenter punched him several times.

Grooms made it to his car, which crashed a short time later. Grooms was found dead inside the vehicle, authorities said.

Carpenter and Jones were last seen driving a gray 2015 Kia Optima with an Arizona license plate, which was rented from Enterprise Rent-A-Car in Charleston, West Virginia, police said.
