Police: Teacher under investigation for sexual assault on school grounds; charges pending

BUTLER, Pa. — A Butler County teacher has been suspended and Channel 11's Amy Marcinkiewicz uncovered that he's under investigation for alleged sexual assault on school grounds.

The Moniteau High School teacher is accused of sexually assaulting at least three female high school students. Two 16-year-olds and a 15-year-old came forward with the allegations, police said.

According to a search warrant obtained by Channel 11 News, there could be more.

State police in Butler are investigating and went to the teacher's house Thursday to confiscate his computer and cellphones.

Police paperwork shows they are looking for sexually explicit text messages and photographs.

Paperwork also shows that the teacher sent a Facebook message to at least one student.

Police said since the news of the three girls’ accusations broke, more students have come forward with similar stories of assault.

The accused teacher has gotten a lawyer, and police sources said the teacher admitted to sending flirtatious texts to a few girls, but nothing more than that.

State police said they are waiting on the district attorney’s approval on their criminal complaint, which could take up until Monday, before charging the teacher with these assaults.
