Murphy staves off challenge in GOP primary nod

HARRISBURG (AP) — Rep. Tim Murphy has defeated challenger Evan Feinberg in the state's GOP primary.

Murphy held back the challenge from Feinberg in Tuesday's race, winning by 64 to 46.

Murphy, 59, has served five terms in Congress, representing a diverse district where Democrats hold a slight majority.

Feinberg, a 28-year-old former staffer to conservative members of Congress, had claimed that Murphy wasn't conservative enough.

Murphy will face Democrat Larry Maggi in the November election.
