While President Donald Trump’s choice of Lt. Gen. H.R. McMaster to be his National Security Advisor has drawn praise from both political parties, the Trump Administration will have to jump over one more hurdle to put McMaster in that job on a permanent basis, because as a high-ranking military officer, he actually needs the Senate to sign off on his job change.
