Reward offered for information on McKeesport man's shooting death

McKEESPORT, Pa. — Pittsburgh Crime Stoppers is now offering a reward for help solving a murder in McKeesport.

Eric Johnson, 24, of McKeesport was shot and killed on Evans Avenue on January 30, 2016.

Johnson was inside a vehicle with another man when they were shot about 8 p.m. in the area of Fern Alley, officials said. The other man was taken to a hospital, but his condition has not been released.

"I live about three blocks from where the gunshots were. We heard like 10 shots, extremely loud," Susan Wygant, of McKeesport, said. "It's horrifying because I have little kids."

No arrests have been made and police continue to investigate the shooting, which happened near another gunfire incident early Saturday morning.

Officials haven't said if Saturday night's shooting is related to the earlier incident, in which more than a dozen shell casings were recovered at a home on Evans Avenue and bullet holes were later discovered to have hit the McKeesport Ambulance Service building.

"It's constant. It's always like this out here. We're actually moving to a different county," Wygant said.

Anyone with information is asked to call Pittsburgh Crime Stoppers.  The number is (412) 255-TIPS.

A reward of $1,000 is offered for information that leads to an arrest and prosecution.  Callers can remain anonymous.
