PITTSBURGH - Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger is sharing a picture of his newborn son, Benjamin Todd Jr.
The proud new father said this is his favorite picture so far, and it is now the screen saver on his phone.
Ashley Roethlisberger, the wife of Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, gave birth to son Benjamin Roethlisberger Jr. at 10:06 p.m. Wednesday night. It is the first child for the couple, who were married in 2011.
Roethlisberger posted a message on his Web page Thursday that read: "Ashley and I welcomed a healthy, beautiful baby boy into this world. Benjamin Jr. is 7 lbs., 1 oz. and is 19 1/2 inches long. Both mom and baby are doing well.
"We want to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers. It really means a lot to us. God is so good!
"We will have pictures to post this weekend.
"We hope you have a very Happy Thanksgiving" -- Ben, Ashley and Benjamin."
Roethlisberger had said he would miss a Steelers game if his wife gave birth on a game day, but that didn't occur.
Roethlisberger is healing from a rib and shoulder-related injury that kept him out of the Baltimore game on Sunday and will sideline him again for the Cleveland game this weekend.
