Medical examiner identifies 2 men killed in Route 51 accident

JEFFERSON HILLS, Pa. — One northbound lane and one southbound lane of Route 51 in Jefferson Hills were closed Monday morning due to a fatal accident.

Emergency crews were called to the 2200 block of the road shortly after 7 a.m.

The rollover accident happened in the northbound lanes near the Ridge Road exit ramps.

According to Jefferson Hills police, one occupant of the car that rolled over was pronounced dead at the scene. A second occupant of the car was transported to Jefferson Regional Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.

The medical examiner identified the victims Tuesday as Eric Hussey, 19, of Elizabeth, and Justin Busko, 30, of Pleasant Hills.

Police said both victims were ejected from the vehicle.

Police said the car was speeding when the driver lost control. It struck a curb and then hit a jersey barrier before landing on its roof.

Allegheny County homicide detectives are assisting the Jefferson Hills Police Department in the investigation.

“(We’re) still investigating all possibilities, including a report of another car driving at a high speed,” the Jefferson Hills police chief said.

Jim Rupert told Channel 11 News Tuesday that he was stunned to learn of the death of his fraternity brother and friend, Busko.

“I didn’t believe it. It just didn’t seem real,” he said.

Rupert said Busko’s family has now been struck by tragedy twice in less than a year. He said he set up a

for family members.

“The loss of a dad and husband and a son in such a short amount of time. It’s overwhelming,” Rupert said.

While the victims’ families and friends begin the grieving process, they’re hoping to soon get more answers as to why their loved ones were taken too soon.
