BELLEVUE, Pa. - Cyclist struck in Bellevue unharmed; Rt. 65 shut down for hours
A cyclist was struck by a vehicle’s mirror on Route 65 early Friday morning, which prompted the busy roadway to be closed for hours while police investigated.
Police said the driver involved called 911 immediately, but was unable to locate the cyclist.
The cyclist’s parents told investigators that he was not harmed and pedaled away after he was struck because he thought he would get in trouble. It is not clear how old the victim is.
Investigators searched the area trying to locate the victim, closing down Route 65 in both directions.
The residual effects from the closure caused traffic to back up on the Parkway North.
Route 65 reopened around 10 a.m.
