Sailor accused of stabbing another sailor from Butler County in Virginia

NORFOLK, Va. — A sailor from Butler County was stabbed in Hampton Roads, Virginia, and the Navy has charged another sailor with the attack.

Petty Officer 2nd Class Justin Powell is a 2007 graduate of Freeport High School.

Investigators said he was stabbed inside a barracks and collapsed outside the Navy exchange store last month.

The Sarver native was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

The base was put on lockdown, and the search began, by air and vehicles, for the alleged attacker.

Petty Officer Wilbur Harwell was arrested after a nine-hour manhunt.  Police said he was tracked down at a Virginia Beach hotel after police pinged his cellphone.

Harwell was charged with attempted murder last week.

Powell is slowly recovering.  According to Facebook post, he's now able to walk without a cane.
