Sex offender already facing new charges also accused of having sex with teens, giving them alcohol

BETHEL PARK, Pa. — A convicted sex offender who was arrested a few weeks ago after being accused texting naked photos of himself to a 15-year-old and fondling her was hit with new charges Wednesday.

Shawn Mooney denied the allegations and claims brought against him, telling Channel 11’s Rick Earle that he’s being set up.

“I didn’t do it,” Mooney said.

Already accused of corruption of a minor, Mooney is now also accused of having sex with two other teenage girls and giving them alcohol, authorities said.

Investigators said they learned about the victims from a teacher at Bethel Park High School who called police about a possible sex assault involving three students, which also led to the first charge.

Mooney was arraigned on the new charges Wednesday. Outside the courtroom, his sister, Sue Neunsen, spoke out in his defense.

“No, he didn't do this. He has two children at home. He takes care of them every day of his life,” she said. “His kids are going to be distraught. My brother doesn't even drink, not a day in his life.”

The Megan’s Law website lists Mooney as a Tier 3 sex offender, meaning he has to register for life and verify his information four times a year in person.
