MARIPOSA COUNTY, Calif. — A California sheriff's deputy came to the aid of a helpless critter that found itself in a tight spot.
It happened Tuesday night in Mariposa County when Deputy William Crane came upon a skunk with its head stuck in a plastic cup.

The deputy repeatedly tried to remove the cup with his baton as the skunk scurried back and forth. Not having success at an arm's length distance, the deputy made a bold move and grabbed the cup with his bare hands.
The deputy, who fortunately did not get sprayed, says his heroic action is all in a day's work.
