GREENSBRUG, Pa. - Hope. Strength. Courage. Faith. These are not typically words that you would expect to see scrolled across the buildings of your local car dealership. However, that is exactly what you will see driving past Smail Auto Groups' nine buildings.
Smail Auto Group has embraced these words of inspiration this October in support of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
"It is our dearest wish that these words become a part of the lives of those who cling to hope and faith, have people around them who cherish, love and encourage them, to offer strength and support through each step," states Jim Smail, President of Smail Auto Group.
For the third year in a row, the company is implementing the "Smail Auto Group Cares" campaign to raise awareness and funds for local breast cancer research, education and support charities. To date, Smail Auto Group has contributed over $100,000 to this important cause.
This year's donation will be distributed to Magee-Womens Research Institute & Foundation, Westmoreland Walks, Inc. -- Taking Steps Against Breast Cancer -- and The Orchid Fund of Ladies Hospital Aid Society. The combination of these three local charities encompass a wide range of breast cancer support, from education and research to programs that enhance the quality of life for those battling the disease.
Lindsey Smail-Schneider recognizes the importance of supporting organizations that promote early detection and life-saving research.
"Much of that success is due to the important research and programs that breast cancer support charities, like those we are working with this year, provide to the women in our community," she states.
Breast cancer is a cause that is close to the hearts of the Smail family and has touched them on a personal level.
"In having two family members who have battled this disease and are survivors, this is intensely personal to all of us," explains Jim Smail.
In addition to transforming their buildings and making monetary donations for the vehicles that are sold and financed, Smail Auto Group is taking the "Smail Auto Group Cares" campaign to their websites and social media sites as well. Each of the 10 dealerships' websites have turned pink for the month and the Smail Auto Group Facebook page is splashed with images of their inspirational pink buildings. They are encouraging the community to visit their Facebook page and share their own words of encouragement and support to those battling breast cancer.
Smail Auto Group employees are also proud to be a part of this campaign and support such an important cause. They have planned designated "Wear Pink" days, where they will donate money and stray from their everyday uniform. They are also selling pink bracelets at each store to raise awareness throughout the month.
Smail Auto Group is excited and hopeful to join with our families, friends and community, once again, to promote Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Please join in the 2013 Breast Cancer Awareness campaign, and help fight a disease that has touched the lives of so many women and families in our community.
