Smell of smoke prompts evacuation of Norwin school

IRWIN, Pa. — Students at a school in Westmoreland County were evacuated Thursday due to the smell of smoke in the cafeteria.

Fire crews were called to Sheraden Terrace Elementary School in North Huntingdon at about 1 p.m.

The school is part of the Norwin School District.

Firefighters determined the smell was from burnt popcorn, and classes were set to resume as normal.
