South Hills road temporarily closed due to school bus accident, 2 injured

PITTSBURGH — Edgebrook Avenue was briefly closed Friday afternoon due to a school bus accident.

The accident happened just before noon near the intersection with Route 51 in Pittsburgh's Brookline neighborhood.

According to a Pittsburgh Public Schools spokesperson, the bus was transporting 15 students to Pittsburgh Carmalt K-8.

Channel 11 News learned that a vehicle crashed into the front of the ABC Transit bus at the intersection with Route 51.

Two students who complained about pain were taken to Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh. The rest of the students were loaded onto another bus and taken to school.

There was minor damage to the school bus.

The road reopened less than an hour later.

Police haven't yet said what caused the crash, or who was responsible for it, but they did say the driver of the vehicle was cited for an expired inspection sticker.

There was no word on whether the driver will face charges in connection with the accident, which remains under investigation.
