South Park HS beefing up security after students report threat

SOUTH PARK, Pa. — Students and teachers at South Park Senior High School will see increased security Wednesday after the district learned of an alleged threat.

A letter sent home to parents said high school administrators were alerted by students on Tuesday to the possible threat. Police were immediately notified, and an increased presence was requested for Wednesday.

“We will continue to work with law enforcement on a daily basis to ensure the safety of our students and staff. Disruptions to school operations will not be tolerated. Be assured that the guilty party in any threat will be prosecuted to the fullest extent permitted by law,” the letter stated.

Specifics of the alleged threat were not addressed in the letter, but the district’s superintendent said the student believed to be involved was interviewed Tuesday night by police.
