Coach Cowher Talks About Santonio Holmes' Arrest

Cowher: Holmes Has To Learn How To Handle Himself

PITTSBURGH —

Steelers head coach Bill Cowher talked on Thursday about the team's No. 1 draft pick's run-in with the law.

Wide receiver Santonio Holmes was charged with disorderly conduct in Miami Beach on Memorial Day weekend.

Cowher said that now that Holmes is in the public eye he has to learn how to handle himself.

"Whatever he did wrong I don't think he handled it properly. I think he will learn from it and understand the scrutiny he's under. We have not talked face to face about it. I don't have any long-term concerns," said Cowher.

Cowher said Holmes is a solid player and he isn't going to hold the arrest against him come training camp.

The Steelers are off until they have to report to training camp in Latrobe by 6 p.m. on July 28.
