Crosby, Pens Take Cup Out To Ballgame At PNC Park

PITTSBURGH —

Penguins captain Sidney Crosby as well as other Stanley Cup Champion players showed up at the ballpark on Sunday with Lord Stanley’s Cup in tow.

In the dugout before the game, the Pens’ players traded their hockey jerseys with the Pirates’ players for their jerseys.

When they came out of the dugout, the loudest cheers were for Crosby, who carried the Cup out onto the field, and Max Talbot, who scored both goals in the team’s 2-1 win in Game 7.

Veteran player Bill Guerin got to throw out the first pitch of the game and laughed when he put it in the dirt at homeplate.

"Split-finger fastballs are going to sink, so I know it was going in the dirt," Guerin explained after his pitch, smiling.

Sunday’s game honored the Pirates’ first world championship in 1909 against the Detroit Tigers. It was the Pirates’ last game in an interleague series with the Tigers. They won 6-3.
