School: McKeesport Area High School
Why did you apply to be a Skylights Sideline Shooter? I applied to be a Sideline Shooter for several reasons. First, I’m an avid sports fan. I follow football, hockey, baseball and golf. Second, I was pulled from contact sports two years ago because of problems with my ears. Third and most importantly, I like interacting with people and I like taking pictures of people just being themselves.
What do you do in your spare time? During my spare time, I read and work on building my vocabulary. I’ve been hearing impaired since I was born so I learn differently than other students. Also during my spare time, I participate in activities around Pittsburgh to help raise money for the great school where I learned to speak and write. I feel it’s important for me to help the kids who go to school there now.
What do you plan to do after high school? When I finish high school, I plan to attend the University of Pittsburgh. I would like to study sociology, communications and education.
Do you plan to pursue a career in television news? I like to observe people interacting, and I like talking about and debating issues that affect people. Talking and writing is what I do best. A career in television news is certainly an option I might explore.
