Penguins Receive Stanley Cup Championship Rings

PITTSBURGH —

The Pittsburgh Penguins received their 2009 Stanley Cup Championship rings at a special ceremony Tuesday night.

The ceremony was held at a Mt. Washington restaurant where Pens' captain Sidney Crosby and right winger Bill Guerin could be seen showing off their new piece of bling.

“It’s nice. If you think about winning, you think about hoisting the cup, and this is something that comes in mind, so, you know, it's pretty nice ring, and I think everyone is pretty happy with the way it turned out,” Crosby said.

“A lot of smiles. You know, everybody was anxious. We've been waiting a long time for this. And, you know, you have your day with the cup. You have your party, and then there's kind of that downtime. So, this is something we have been looking forward to for a long time. And it was definitely worth the wait,” said Guerin.

The impressive ring contains four and a half carats or more than 165 diamonds.

The Penguins will raise their third Stanley Cup Championship banner Friday night at Mellon Arena when the Pens kick off a new season hosting the New York Rangers.
