Penguins' Talbot To Miss 4-5 Months After Shoulder Surgery

PITTSBURGH —

Pittsburgh Penguins forward Maxime Talbot will miss training camp and the beginning of the 2009-2010 season after having surgery Tuesday to repair a torn labrum in his left shoulder.

The 25-year-old scored both goals in Pittsburgh's 2-1 victory in Game 7 against Detroit in the Stanley Cup final last month.

Penguins general manager Ray Shero said in a statement that Talbot has played with the injury "for quite a while."

Shero said Talbot's recovery will be four to five months.

Talbot has 42 goals and 80 points in 261 career NHL games.

The surgery was performed at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.
