Steelers Nation Reacts To Cowher's Resignation

Black And Gold Loses Head Coach

PITTSBURGH —

After 15 years as the Steelers head coach, Bill Cowher called it quits at a press conference held on Friday.

Cowher announced his resignation from the team.

As word of Cowher's resignation became public knowledge, the Steelers Nation reacted to the news.

Long-time Steelers broadcaster Myron Cope:

"His record speaks for itself. He's got a great record. Had he won three more championships, I mean division titles, he would have tied Don Schulla. Who has the record for all time for Division Championships. How does that not add up to a great coach?"

Mayor Luke Ravenstahl:

"As mayor of Pittsburgh, the Capitol of the Steelers Nation, I want to say thank you Coach Cowher. Thank you for all for all you've done for our city, our team and our people. Thank you for being a shining example on and off the field of what is best about our city. Congratulations on all of your storied accomplishments with the Steelers and for realizing the dream of every hometown Pittsburgh kid who's ever played football. For an entire generation of Steelers fan you will always be our coach. We celebrate all of your success and wish you and your family our warmest and best wishes on your road to the Hall of Fame."

Chris Hoke, Steelers Nose Tackle

"Some of the things he used to say ... one of the quotes that really stands out in my mind motivationally is, 'You're never as good as you think you are, but you're never as bad as they say you are.'"
