Steelers Savor Victory, Fans' Kindness

250,000 People Attend Parade

PITTSBURGH —

The Pittsburgh Steelers are still savoring victory Wednesday morning, after being officially welcomed back to the city with a bang.

More than 250,000 Steelers fans joined forces with their Super Bowl heroes for what's being called the biggest celebration in the city ever.

A jam-packed parade route led to a jam-packed gathering at Gateway Center, where the players spoke to the crowd.

Now that the team has "one for the thumb," it needs a new slogan.

One fan made a banner that read "don't stop there... the other hand is bare!"

Channel 11 caught up with a few wild and crazy fans enjoying the parade.

Perhaps the most colorful was die-hard fan Rob Johnston.

"I did it myself. It's pretty elaborate, but I don't want to tell people I did it myself. I'm embarrassed," he said.

Many fans showed up after hearing their parents talk about the super bowl celebrations of the 1970s.
